Headlamps - Dev Blog #45

We’ve seen some incredible cars being made over the last week, Thank you for sharing them with us! Today, we wanted to share with you a new part that we’ve been working on, the Headlights!

Some of the vehicles we’ve seen have makeshift headlights painted onto their vehicle, we’re hoping that these new pieces will offer you a greater level of detail when trying to recreate an iconic vehicle (or Lawnmower). Of course, there will be many variations of headlights throughout the development of Techblox.

These lights will not only make your car look great, but they are also customisable and functional. They will be able to emit light, and you’ll also be able to configure the colour, intensity, range and even wire them up to logic to setup indicators etc.

Those of you who experienced Gamecraft’s lighting system knew that we could only have a maximum of eight lights on screen, this was a limit due to forward-rendering hardware limitations. In Techblox, we’re using HDRP and deferred lighting so we can have many more lights on screen efficiently!

The headlights will be a usable part in the next playable build, along with the shapes we shared yesterday!
